Class description

In this class, the dialogue model of the Public Conversations Project (now known as Essential Partners) will be presented and demonstrated. A tightly structured format makes it accessible to groups to address a wide variety of issues, even without formal training in how to conduct dialogues. Five questions are used to clarify differences and provide a road map for listening and understanding how others arrive at their positions. The goal is not to achieve consensus, but to provide a platform for further discussion and potential problem-solving. In a highly polarized environment, finding ways to bridge divides and listen to those with whom we disagree can be a first step toward mutual understanding and a basis for forging a common way forward.
