Cross-Generational Dialogue: Talking and Listening So That Others Will Talk and Listen
October 17, 2020 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm EDTFree
Dialogue across the generations can break down when Millennials feel that older adults are man-splaining or woman-splaining and not listening to their thoughts, feelings, or concerns. As activists working on social, political, economic, and environmental issues with passion and a commitment to create meaningful and lasting change, younger and older adults need each other, can work together harmoniously, and can enhance each other’s efforts with common purpose. This workshop will focus on active listening, collaborating with humility, creating strong partnerships, and respecting differences. Come with an open heart and mind ready to share, listen, and grow.
Trainers: Thulani Davis, Director of Programming, Spectrum in Motion Dance Theater Ensemble in Hartford, is a Millennial activist working on struggles for women’s rights, quality education for all children, and civil rights and civil liberties for all; and the Rev. Sarah Buteux, Co-Pastor, First Churches, Northampton, and Founder, Common Ground, a farm-to-table dinner church.
