Producing Radio Ready Podcasts

Audio podcasts have not only become more popular over the last decade or so, but many social justice organizations are producing them as a supplement to their public-facing work and good podcasts can get picked up by radio stations to broadcast. Through multimedia presentation, interactive exercises, and cross-examining the experience of the facilitator, this workshop will cover important aspects of media literacy, writing for radio, basic audio editing, and techniques with tools to use for producing creative and compelling podcasts.

Netfa Freeman is the Events Coordinator and an Analyst for the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C., and an Organizer for Pan-African Community Action. Netfa has been a host/producer of the radio show and podcast Voices With Vision since 2006 to the present, following 2 years as a producer for the WPFW public affairs program, Africa Meets Africa. Netfa is a creatively proficient audio editor, professional interviewer and producer. Netfa has decades of experience in activism, grassroots organizing, and coordinating events around issues and causes ranging in scope from local to national to international.
