CANCELLED: The Prison Fix
October 26 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT

This class has been cancelled.
The focus of this four-session class series is the mass incarceration system, which took off in the United States in the 1970s and is directly related to the Black freedom struggle in this country. At a time when Black labor was made superfluous to the economics of an emerging global neo-liberal system, and when Black demands for justice found expression in urban uprising, the prison system became a way to house and contain a potentially revolutionary class. Each week our discussion will center on the exploration of that issue and its consequences. There will be readings to complete and videos to watch between the class sessions. Each class will involve lively discussion and plenty of time for questions and reflections about the impact of the material.
